December Book Haul

Another book haul at last! This month's haul was slightly larger than expected because I was gifted a few books. That is always a wonderful surprise ;)

Richard Papen arrived at Hampden College in New England and was quickly seduced by an elite group of five students, all Greek scholars, all worldly, self-assured, and, at first glance, all highly unapproachable. As Richard is drawn into their inner circle, he learns a terrifying secret that binds them to one another...a secret about an incident in the woods in the dead of night where an ancient rite was brought to brutal life...and led to a gruesome death. And that was just the beginning....
I received this book as a gift from my TBTB Secret Santa. It's been on my wishlist forever so I'm really glad to have it on my shelf!

All Dutch libraries offered this book to members in honor of "Boekenweek". It's been a while since I've last read Dutch literature, so hopefully this will get me back into it!

Prince Aleksander, would-be heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is on the run. His own people have turned on him. His title is worthless. But her secret is in constant danger of being discovered. With World War I brewing, Alek and Deryn's paths cross in the most unexpected way…taking them on a fantastical, around-the-world adventure that will change both their lives forever
This book is special because it contains illustrations to accompany the story. This might not be my cup of tea but we'll see.

Connor, Risa, and Lev are running for their lives.
The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child "unwound," whereby all of the child's organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn't technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape and to survive.
I've been waiting forever to buy Unwind! I really love the plot concept so I have really high hopes for this book.
